A real partner
We have greater incentives than many other firms to align our objectives with those of the company we acquire. That is why we are the largest investors in our fund (by contrast, industry convention only requires VCs to put up 1% of the total capital of the fund.
To us, the long-developed company moat and deep customer relationships of great companies set the bedrock for a unique understanding of the industry. The injection of new talents, capital, and, most importantly, vision provides the fuel to move the industry forward. That’s a unique combination that requires time and focus.
So, unlike the Hedge Fund daily “mark to market” or private equity, which has a 5-7-year holding period before the next “liquidity” event, we intend to own and operate the company forever.
